The mission of AIA is to be the voice of the architecture profession dedicated to three purposes: serving its members, advancing their value, and improving the quality of the built environment.
GENERAL //
AIA Milwaukee is the largest chapter of AIA Wisconsin, representing over 580 architects and emerging professionals in southeastern Wisconsin. The organization exists to serve the needs of its members within the Greater Milwaukee region, and to provide leadership and stewardship to the public–at–large for a range of issues affecting the built environment.
Members of AIA Milwaukee have available to them a range of continuing education, volunteer and other professional opportunities. Participation within the organization is open at many levels, including membership for registered professionals, associate members, and sponsorship opportunities for the many allied suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers to the profession.
ORGANIZATION //
AIA Milwaukee is lead by an Executive Board– President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Past President and three directors at large. These eight directors are the voting delegates for the chapter.
BACKGROUND //
AIA Milwaukee has a rich history of involvement in community design and social issues and today utilizes a volunteer committee structure to focus on areas of concern for our region, including sustainable (or “green”) design practices, community outreach, design education and the development of emerging professionals. In providing these opportunities for involvement, the presentation of a diverse and dedicated AIA Milwaukee emphasizes the role of architects as advocates for a stronger community.
GOALS //
1. Organizing and uniting in fellowship with members of the architectural profession within the Greater Milwaukee Area.
2. Promoting the aesthetic, scientific and practical efficiency of the architectural profession.
3. Advancing the science and art of planning and building by advancing the standard of architectural education, training and practice.
4. Coordinating the profession of architecture with the building industry to insure the advancement of the living standard of people through their improved environment.
5. Working to insure the architectural profession is of ever-increasing value to society.
6. Protecting the rights and interests of our members and advocating on their behalf.
