Dear Architects and Allied Professionals,
As part of community of professionals making investments in building projects in Greater Milwaukee, you have a vested interest in the health and vitality of our city. Therefore, I’m making an assumption that you may have interest in supporting an initiative led by AIA Milwaukee to work alongside the residents of one of Milwaukee’s grand neighborhoods, Merrill Park, in the revitalization of their neighborhood.
On Thursday, May 14th, 2009, an old fashioned ice cream social was held to announce AIA Milwaukee’s “Reweaving the Neighborhood Fabric” initiative. In celebrating the 150th Birthday of the American Institute of Architects, we are engaging in a community service program that focuses on the Merrill Park Neighborhood with the ultimate goal of serving other communities. At this kickoff meeting, Alderman Robert Baumann delivered a message of support and encouragement for the program that will bring a Community Center and affordable, dignified modular housing to 29th Street and Clybourn Avenue.
With this message is a companion brochure that has been prepared to explain the project and to request the investment of civic-minded members of our professional architectural and contractor community. Please read the Community Center Brochure and consider a level of support, whether that be a cash donation, in-kind contribution, or other volunteer commitment of time and talent.
These are difficult economic times for all of us, so I don’t take lightly a request for your support; however, I believe strongly in this initiative, and I believe that a vibrant community blesses and benefits all of us.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,

John Holz, AIA
