Promoting the preservation of our historic buildings and spaces through the development of information and knowledge through members, allied professional organizations, and the public.
ABOUT //
While architects have always worked with the existing built environment, we are increasingly encountering a built environment that has been designated as “historic”. Whether a structure is designated as “historic” for its age, design, or its association with important events, it is held to a standard of care and consideration higher than a typical maintenance project, remodeling, or addition. The Historic Resources Committee is dedicated to providing the AIA Milwaukee membership with preservation contacts, resources, and learning opportunities. The HRC will also seek to make alliances local history and preservation groups and agencies to provide a broader range of activities, educational opportunities, and public interaction.
If you have ideas for possible programs or would like to volunteer to serve on or work with the HRC, please contact the HRC Chair, Kevin Donahue.
