The AIA Milwaukee Committee on the Environment (COTE) is a local advisory group comprised of a volunteer committee chair and a membership of interested professionals and partners. This group is focused on addressing local and regional AIA/COTE issues and opportunities as well as maintaining contact with the national level to further efforts throughout the nation.
Goals
Support professional architects in the City of Milwaukee and the Southeast Region of Wisconsin who are working to provide healthy and safe environments for people.
Promote the role of the architect as an essential member within a team leading in preserving and protecting the planet & its living systems.
Create a forum for practitioners to increase their technical knowledge about how to address environmental issues by creating built environments of exceptional design quality.
Provide local leaders with knowledge about environmental issues, and advocate greater support for preserving the earth’s capability of sustaining a shared high quality of life through the thoughtful consideration of the built environment.
Support cooperation with educators and institutions of learning, government agencies, manufacturers, environmental organizations, and industry groups in advancing environmentally sound design processes and standards, environmentally innovative materials and integrated systems.
