444 Chairs designed by UWM Students 01 [feb] 2008
Bar stools, lounge chairs, and seats of all colors and designs were on exhibit at the UWM School of Architecture and Urban Planning over the past few months. 444 architecture and design students showcased their drawings and models. Architecture faculty, staff and the competition sponsors select the top chair designs. The winning chair design was submitted to Nemschoff, a Sheboygan-based manufacturer of furniture to build the full size chair.
AIA Milwaukee, a supporter of this event congratulates this year's student winner, Jonathan Mark Koskie.
Committee on the Environment (COTE) 15 [feb] 2008
The Kick-off Meeting involved a brainstorming session to identify initiatives that enhance both the design quality and environmental performance of the built environment. Professors Greg Thomson and Chris Cornelius were also on hand to discuss the selection of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee's team as one of the 20 international groups to compete in the 2008 Solar Decathlon.

Green Architecture at its Robust Best 13 [feb] 2008
Over 40 people were in attendance as The Kubala Washatko Architects presented a post-construction tour of their project, the new Alterra Coffee Roasters on Humboldt Avenue in Milwaukee, WI.

Opening Doors to Education 16 [jan] 2008
AIA Milwaukee visited the newly created SUPAR (School for Urban Planning and Architecture) an MPS Charter High School. To support their mission AIA Milwaukee donated $500 to the school. This event was just one of many FREE Opening Doors programs AIA Milwaukee hosts bi-monthly that are open to all members and the public.
